The Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution era keeps rolling with the release of the Pitch Black expansion! While Mega Darkrai commands the main pack art, Mega Zeraora shares just as much of the spotlight, setting up an epic clash between shadow and lightning.
Pitch Black adds over 115 new cards to the TCG pool—leaning heavily into Mega Evolutions while delivering over 20 Trainer cards and more than 35 Special Illustration Rares. The team here at Snaps Grading recently cracked open a batch of booster packs to inspect the new set fresh from the foil and see what kind of minty hits we could find.
The undisputed crown jewel of the set looks to be the Gold Mega Darkrai ex. While that top-tier grail eluded our grading desk this time around, the pull rates still gave us some stunning artwork that is practically begging to be encapsulated. Special Illustration Rares like Goldeen and Delphox might not top the market charts, but their incredible visuals make them absolute stunners for any display case. We also scored our fair share of Zeraora and Silvally, and it was awesome seeing the Kalos starters and their evolutions get love in this set.
